Aisling Discoveries and East Metro Youth Services Announce Intent to Explore Amalgamation
We are very pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of Aisling Discoveries Child and Family Centre and East Metro Youth Services have entered formal discussions to explore the opportunity to amalgamate and create a new children’s mental health centre to serve infants, children, youth and families in east Toronto. Our vision is that by combining our staff expertise, programs and services, we can create greater capacity to provide high quality mental health, autism, developmental and early intervention services, and a more seamless experience for our clients.
After an initial assessment, both Boards believe this initiative has the potential to result in significant benefits for families across Toronto’s east end. Our agencies have a long history of service excellence, innovation and commitment to families. Aisling Discoveries and East Metro already deliver many complementary programs and together in the future, we hope to expand our continuum of services and increase our ability to offer more choices for infants, children, youth and their families.
Our staff remain our greatest asset. We believe this merger will improve our sustainability into the future and strengthen our ability to attract, retain and invest in our staff.
This initiative also aligns very closely with the province’s move towards a more integrated, sustainable system of services, leading to improved client and family experiences.
As we initiate this process, there are several important steps that will take place, including a thorough due diligence assessment, which will help inform both Boards as to the viability of this amalgamation and move to a final decision to create a new Entity. This initial discovery phase will take approximately three months, and we hope to share additional information about the potential amalgamation at that time.
We are committed to ensuring there is no disruption to client services, and we will continue to work closely with all our partners throughout this process. The Boards have endorsed a principle of open and transparent communication with our families, staff and partners. To this end, we will make ongoing efforts to keep you informed of our progress.
