Kiaunna is a social worker who currently works as the Project Coordinator for the Plug Project at Taibu Community Health Centre in Scarborough—working with Black and racialized students who have come into conflict with the education system through suspension or expulsion. She provides them with wrap-around services, including mental health and academic supports, and access to legal representation. Since March 2020, she’s also been a Site Coordinator for a Community Leadership After School Program for the City of Toronto. Other roles have included Senior Program Leader for Toronto Community Housing and a Racialized Student Collective Coordinator at Ryerson. Kiaunna also volunteers as a Youth Advisor on the Community Youth Action Committee for Toronto Police Services. In all these roles, Kiaunna contributes a strong commitment to addressing anti-Black racism.
