Board Director

Laura Jamer is the Special Advisor to the President for Government and External Relations at George Brown Polytechnic. She leads engagement across municipal, provincial, and federal governments, and oversees institutional advocacy, stakeholder relations, and issues management to advance the college’s strategic priorities, strengthen public trust, and align institutional initiatives with government and sector priorities. Before her tenure at George Brown College, Laura spent 16 years in the Ontario Public Service, holding senior positions in various ministries, including as the Executive Advisor for the Deputy Minister responsible for Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity (part of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS). Laura also spent eight years as a Board Director at Youthdale Treatment Centres. She was Board Chair for four of those years, and was a key voice for advocacy, strategic planning, and governance during her time on the board.
